Estes Park Colorado wedding in field

Alex and Brett’s Della Terra Wedding, Estes Park Colorado

The Love Story

Brett and Alex who met online like most couples have an extraordinary love story. Shortly after their meeting Brett left for Army basic training, Alex and Brett wrote letters every day for 4 months and when Brett returned they knew this was it for them. Their love of adventure and animals (Alex is a vet) has bonded these two. Brett proposed to Alex on a hike up Manitour incline in colorado springs, which is about 2744 steps, although Alex was tired and hangry Brett managed to pull Alex off the trail long enough to propose to her. You can tell with everything these two do, they do it with their whole heart.

Alex and Brett were married at Della Terra Estate in Estes Park Colorado, although the two lived in Colorado when they got engaged this wedding turned into a destination wedding for everyone since the couple now lives in Texas. I love destination weddings and it is not because of the beautiful backdrops, although that helps, but because by the end of the weekend strangers become family.

Wedding Weekend

The wedding weekend started off with a welcome party next to the river where family and friends reconnected or even met for the first time. The western theme was carried throughout the wedding festivities with guys and girls wearing cowboy boots and hats. Alex and Brett really wanted a laid back wedding where they could enjoy the people surrounding them.

The day of Alex and Brett’s wedding was another stunning day in Colorado. I met Alex who was getting ready with her two bridesmaids and some other friends. The couple opted for a first look so we could spend plenty of time hiking in the mountains next to the venue. As a wedding photographer who equally loves weddings, hiking and travel this wedding was a dream come true for me. Alex looked gorgeous in her simple off the shoulders white dress and Brett was one handsome cowboy in boots, jeans a white shirt, blue jacket and his signature cowboy hat.

After we enjoyed our time in the woods, the couple said their vows underneed the mountains in front of their favorite people. Alex’s brother was the officiant and did a wonderful and heartfelt job. Then family and friends enjoyed cocktail hour outside on the terrace shortly followed by Alex and Brett’s first dance in the open colorado air.

Talk about one heck of a party, I have never been to a more fun wedding and I was working most of it. Brett’s friends and family from Wyoming knew how to have a good time and boy could they dance. Many laughs were had as the Wyoming boys tried to teach the PA kids how to two step. The night was electric and that had everything to do with Alex and Brett and the people that love them the most!
